Empowering Communities Through Justice, Information, and Equality

The Women’s Cell of Kathmandu Metropolitan City is a transformative initiative dedicated to advancing gender equality, justice, and inclusive development for all genders. Rooted in the belief that access to information, legal support, and grassroots leadership can dismantle systemic barriers, we work to create a society where every individual—regardless of gender—can thrive.

Our Mission

  • Justice at the Doorstep: Through our ward-level Women’s Networks, we provide immediate mediation, legal aid, and psychosocial support to resolve disputes—from domestic violence to property conflicts—ensuring no one suffers in silence.
  • Inform to Transform: As a proud participant in the global Inform Women, Transform Lives campaign (led by The Carter Center), we empower women and marginalized groups with critical information about their rights, economic opportunities, and public services.
  • Care-Centered Cities: We advocate for gender-responsive urban policies, from breastfeeding rooms in public spaces to collaborations with One-Stop Crisis Management Centers (OCMC), ensuring survivors of violence receive holistic care.

Our Impact

  1. Resolved 372+ disputes through community-led reconciliation in Kathmandu’s wards (FY 2079–2081).
  2. Trained 100+ mediators and legal advocates to strengthen local justice systems.
  3. Partnered with hospitals, NGOs, and global forums (e.g., Asia Pacific Care Forum) to redefine urban planning through a care-economy lens.

Why "Women’s Cell" for All Genders?

  • While our name highlights women’s leadership, our work transcends gender binaries. We address:
  • Male survivors of violence and discrimination.
  • LGBTQ+ individuals facing social injustice.
  • Families and communities impacted by systemic inequities.

Join us in building a Kathmandu where justice is accessible, voices are amplified, and care is a collective responsibility.
